ERIK TIJERINA, FNP-C
Erik Tijerina is a family nurse practitioner who has been practicing at Tri-County Family Medicine since it’s opening in 2020. Erik has practices in Gun Barrel City since 2006 starting with Dr. Ben Embry. In May of 2020 Baylor closed the clinic due to COVID hardship and asked him to move to their Forney clinic location. Erik felt a need to stay closer to his patients in order to provide them with the care they deserved. He and Juile stayed and opened Tri-County Family Medicine. Erik started in patient care right out of high school as a paramedic. He then attended UT Tyler for nursing school before completing his nurse practitioner at Texas Tech. Erik sees patients of all ages in the clinic, he also follows patients at several local nursing homes, assisted living centers, and home hospice care.
JULIE KILCREASE, FNP-C
Julie Kilcrease APRN, FNP-C is an owner of Tri-County Family Medicine. She has 12 years of experience as a Family nurse practitioner and was a Neonatal intensive care nurse prior to becoming a NP for 5 years. She has previously worked for Baylor Scott and White and Primary Care Associates.
Julie receives her Masters in Nursing from The University of Texas at Tyler and her Bachelors of Nursing from Texas Tech and an Associate Degree of Nursing from McLennan Community College. Prior to deciding to study nursing she attended Baylor University and worked as a student athletic trainer and received her Bachelor of Science Education with a focus in Health and Fitness Studies. While exploring athletic training Julie received her Associate's degree of Paramedicine from McLennan Community College and worked as a paramedic while she obtained her nursing degrees.
Julie is married to her husband Wes who works as a Waco fire captain. They have 3 children who keep them busy with school and sporting activities. They also run a cattle ranch. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, reading and spending team cheering on her kids.
SYLVIA BROWN-CATES, FNP-C
Sylvia Cates is a dedicated and caring Family Nurse Practitioner that has been practicing at Tri-County Family Medicine since joining the clinic in 2021. Sylvia previously worked in Dallas at Children's Hospital as a Neo-Natal Intensive Care Nurse with over 25 years specializing in pediatric care. She also served for several years as a pediatric emergency Flight Nurse. Sylvia holds a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and later completed her Masters/Nurse Practitioner training from Walden University.
Sylvia has lived in the Cedar Creek Lake area for over 20 years and serves many friends and neighbors from Mabank, Kemp, Canton and Cedar Creek Country Club communities as well as clients from as far away as Dallas and Rockwall. She loves treating children and sees many patients from surrounding area Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities as well. Sylvia also recently began providing specialized skin and dermatological care that can aid in the reduction of scaring, acne and age related wrinkling and loss of dermal smoothness and elasticity.
